Paolo Patelli

Saturday February 15 2020
only between 4:30 and 6:30 PM

Paolo Patelli was born in Abbazia (Istria), Italy, in 1934 and lives in the Veneto region from 1947. He has been painting since the 50's and exhibits from 1962 onwards. An abstract painter, has had about 100 one-person exhibitions, participated in the most important Art Fairs, taught at the Fine Arts Academy in Venice, at the New York University and the Ca' Foscari University in Venice, lectured in England and the United States.

His way is always linked to color, to the gesture, and trying to enlarge the field of painting, and keeping lightness and the poetic as a goal: here he is exhibiting cutout shaped plywood boards, painted with thin acrylic color stains onto which are added illegible wax pastel calligraphies.

Connections and overlaps, ripples and shadows, liberate abstraction from the tradition of geometry to include imperfection as a new cypher of gravitas. Donata Negrini
