Images are born at night but seen in the morning, like waking up in a room with the shutters open and, along with the sharp outline of the objects around us, the light harmonizes our breathin with the beginning of the day. The light enters to fill the slits of the room and the body, even when the clouds obscure the sun. Light in the morning, as in the evening, is not a matter of weather but an element that somehow resembles courage and possibility.
Suspended between reality and imagination, we see things oscillate what appears and what is missing and somehow they seem to rereveal an imprecise self-potrait. The work is constructed in the mirror, a bridge that extends to stitch together the fragments of personal memory to the broad scope of collective memory.
Elena Al Asmar was born in Firenze and she lives in Milano. She is among the founders of Madefnlandia and spazio C.O.S.M.O.
