Hoping, Shooting, Disappearing. Three verbs engraved in the darkness, in the Balck. Three polar stars of profound thought, of the conscience of a living, contemporaryand already posthumous artist. The MATtam event at Palazzo Te by Walter materassi is based on the symbolic trio, the limbs of an Artist-body destined to oblivion as probably, without any doubt, his work. It is in this wake of awareness that all his actions are born.

Walter Materassi, born in Bologna in 1974, lives and works in Castello di Elle in the Bolognese Apennines. For over twenty years he has professed to be a painter, constantly contradicting himself. For almost a decade he dedicated himself to any business except painting, thus fulfilling the warning of his teacher Dino Gavina to keep his hands firmly in his pockets. In the last two years, unfortunately, due to a trip, he was forced to take them out so as not to hit his nose on the ground. From that moment he focused his attention exclusively on the color Black in a cycle of works called Nigredo. His last exhibition dates back to 2014, at the Capellini Geological Museum in Bologna. This MatTam experience at Palazzo Te is his first public outing after 10 years. It could be the last.
