As in earth

Saturday May 11 2019
only between 4:30 and 6:30 PM

Giulia Filippi (born in Vicenza in 1982) received a BA from the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice, Italy, and is completing a MA in social innovation inspired by the vegetal world. Since 2014 she decided to live in Bevagna (PG). From 2007 she collaborates with various museums, administrations, institutions, associations, to carry out educational projects and workshops. Starting from 2001 she has been involved in group shows and one-person exhibitions in Italy and abroad.

Images are marked by sunlight on paper and velvet. There is also a sculpture made of sugar, a substance that comes from the chlorophyll photosynthesis: it reminds me of the windows' glazing in the Palazzo Te. "Così in terra" (As in earth) is part of a research path that explores the manifestations of celestial luminous matter in the vital phenomena of the planet. Light is a sculptural matter that suspends time in images, transforms substances and shapes the form of things of nature.

Playing with impermanence, one finds oneself meditating on time's cycle, in its diverse journey between us and the universe, towards a new materialism of contemplation. Donata Negrini
