Marco Culpo

Davanti ai colori

Sunday October 9 2022
only between 10:30 AM and 1:00 PM

My research is oriented to color, this implies interacting with an alchemical world made of canvases, cotton, jute, papers, binders, mediums, saturations, drying, pigments, oxides, earths, oils, acrylics, tempera, waxes, resins, adhesives, crosslinkers, brushes, flat brushes, spatulas, blades. I never know before exactly where I’m going to end; but that's the meaning - you don't have to know exactly where to go, otherwise the journey is useless. To me color only makes sense in relation to other colors - it is not a monad. Which also means that I only make sense if I am in relationship with other human beings.

Marco Culpo lives and works in Mantova. At the Academy of Venice he attended the courses of Emilio Vedova. He has held training courses and workshops on color at various Italian institutes. He has collaborated on various shows with numerous theater groups. Among the main personal exhibitions:1995 "Fare e rifare" - Atelier d'Arte Ducale, Mantova; 1996 "Percorsi impossibili" - Centro Sociale Auser, Marmirolo; 1998 "Per visioni lontane" - Casa degli artisti, Tenno Villa del Monte di Tenno (Trento);2003 "8tele" - Villa Granata, Reggio Emilia; 2004 "Reversibile" nella sala delle conferenze, Cerea (Verona); 2006 "Dipinti" - galleria Einaudi – Mantova; 2017 "Oltremare" - centro LILT – Reggio Emilia; 2018 "Sintagmi" - Casa del Rigoletto – Mantova.

"To indulge the material, one must abandon oneself to the vibrations of light, welcome the pleasure of transforming, and finally not stop freeing one's gaze towards every possibility of horizon." Donata Negrini
