Italian-Dutch transmedia artist, philosopher, and writer Marta Nijhuis was born in Milan in 1983. Since 2009 she is based in Lyon, France, where she is a Lecturer in higher education. Her work focuses on an interpretation of the topic of identity hinged on the philosophical notion of "difference", and has been displayed internationally.

A series of portraits of women — realised with a 3D pen using a filament of black compostable plastic in order to obtain "solid", sculptural drawings — is the the starting point for a selfies-based photographic project, in which the artist wears those portraits as if they were, at once, masks and a variety of points of view on the world.

In these fragile times, one can only play with identity, experiment with new profiles and flout all boundaries between unicity and homologation. Donata Negrini
